Bachelors Programmes (Semester System)
- The duration of the course shall be four academic years. There shall be an examination on the completion of each four year called terminal examination.
- The medium of instruction and examination shall be English except Islamic Studies and Afghanistan History where option of English, Dari and Pushto is given.
- The instructional program and evaluation of students shall be based on semester system of examinations.
- Courses of studies are subject to changes and modifications by the relevant bodies of the Institute in the light of the guidelines of Ministry of Higher Education.
- For a candidate to be eligible to appear in each Examination, he/she must have attended at least 75 % of lectures delivered in theory and practicals.
- Only actual attendance in classes shall be considered in calculating the shortage of attendance and no concession in the attendance requirements shall be given on the basis of leave applications including leave on medical grounds.
- Minimum marks required to pass an examination shall be 60%.
- A student who fails two subjects in examination shall be promoted to next semester and allowed to appear in the examination. A student who fails more than two papers backlog shall not be promoted to next semester.
- Absence from an examination for any reason whatsoever shall be considered failure in that examination.
- Student failing in all/some papers of an examination shall be declared to have failed in that/those paper(s). He/She shall be allowed to re-appear in the failing paper(s) in the supplementary examination.
Award of Grace Marks
- The benefit of Grace Marks upto one percent of the total number of marks allotted for an examination, subject to a maximum of ten marks, shall be given to a candidate who has taken the regular examination and who, but for this benefit, would have failed in the examination. These marks may be distributed over the various units of passing. The marks shall be added physically.
- A student who fails by one mark in a particular paper in the examination shall be deemed to have passed in that paper. The mark shall be added physically to marks secured by the student.
- The benefit of Grace Marks up to one percent of the total number of marks allotted for an examination subject to a maximum of five marks, shall be given to a candidate who, but for this benefit, would have been placed in lower division on the basis of aggregate result of the whole course. These marks shall be added physically.
- Should a candidate desire not to avail the concession of grace marks allowed to him / her under the Regulations, he / she may be allowed to apply for withdrawal of such concession, within a period of fifteen days after the declaration of result, on a judicial stamp paper (not less than Rs. 30/-). Option once exercised by the candidate shall, however, be final.
- The benefit of Grace Marks shall not be admissible to students in supplementary / repeat examination(s).
Grade, Promotion and Merit
- Minimum marks for passing the examination of a course shall be 60%.
- Final evaluation of students in a semester shall be based on overall performance in the final examination & sessional marks (including class tests, assignments, attendance etc).
- If a student fails to appear in the terminal examination in a course(s) due to any reason, he/she will be treated as absent and failed in that course(s).
- Fractional percentage(s) of marks obtained in a subject(s) / Grade Point Average (GPA) shall be calculated up to two significant figures. If the second fraction after decimal is 4 or less, it will be ignored. However, if the second fraction to the next higher digit is 5 or more, it will be taken into account by raising the first fraction to the next higher digit (Examples 59.91 to 59.94 will be considered as 59.9 while 59.95 to 59.99 will be raised to 60). In case of close competition between/amongst students for merit position, the third fraction will be calculated.
Grading system
In the evaluation of students, four passing grades A, B, C & D and one failing grade F shall be used, as follows:

Declaration of Result
- As soon as possible after the conclusion of an examination, the Controller of Examinations will notify the result.
- Results of terminal examinations shall be communicated to students as well as their parents/guardians by the head of concerned institution / college.
- Transcript will be issued to the candidates on after the declaration of terminal result.
- The Controller of Examinations shall issue a certificate of merit to a student who stands first on the basis of the overall results
- Students appearing for improvement shall not be eligible for Merit Certificate.
