Jalalabad Campus
Jalalabad is a city in eastern Afghanistan. Located at the junction of the Kabul and Kunar rivers near the Laghman valley, Jalalabad is the capital of Nangarhar province. It is linked by approximately 90 miles (140 km) of highway with Kabul to the west, Jalalabad is the largest city of east Afghanistan as well as its social and business center.
Jalalabad campus was established in January 2008; Mr Rafiullah Sherzad was appoainted as the first Director of the Campus. The mission of this university is to serve the society by providing affordable and accessible education through technology support to disseminate and discover useful knowledge, develop professional skills, ethical dispositions and commitment to excellence.
The basic objective of this Institution was to provide educational facilities to people of southern part of the country, who cannot afford to leave their homes and jobs for higher education, and also to provide facilities to the masses for their educational uplift. Preparing quality teachers is also another objective of the Institute
The Institute is located in the central area of Jalalabad near the Indian conciliate, The Institute has two departments in two faculties. The number of courses offered by these departments is continuously increasing. For instance in 2008, the Institution was offering one course while in the summer 2008, the number has increased up to four. Kardan has the most modern and up-to-date curriculum designed under the guidelines of the Ministry of Higher Education. Course text books are published are being taught in English language, Jalalabad campus follow the same rule, regulation and procedure as are followed in the main campus in kabul for all diploma and graduate programmes. Academic audits for improved quality and curriculum refinement are being arranged in the main campus. The university has eminently qualified faculty with outstanding academic background. All the lecturers have master in their relevant subjects.
The campus is well furnished and consists of twelve class rooms, one library and a lab, with full academic environment for study. Today is an era of information technology, and adoption of the latest communication sources is a key to success. The Institute has its own website which is updated on daily basis. All of the facts, figures information about admission and examinations, details about programmes and courses have been made available on this website. The facility of communication box has also been made available to the students and they can communicate with the relevant department regarding their problems/queries.
